E?world energy & water
with New Records in Essen (Germany)
The 15th E-world energy & water at Messe Essen closed with a record number of participants. 640 exhibitors (in 2014: 620), more than ever before, from 25 nations presented their products and services for generation, efficiency, trading, transport, storage, smart energy and green technologies. They provided the around 24.000 visitors from 80 countries with answers to key challenges in the energy sector - from the energy turnaround right up to consumer oriented energy solutions. The exhibitors included not only a large number of special service providers but also major players in the sector such as RWE, E.ON, Vattenfall, EnBW, Bosch, Siemens and Gazprom.
Europe's premier energy fair once again proved to be the central meeting place for decision makers. 75 percent of the trade visitors are involved in purchases and procurements in their companies. Most of them work for energy suppliers, service providers and industrial companies. "In 2015, E world was again the place to be for the energy sector. The main objectives of our visitors were to exchange information as well as to maintain existing business contacts and to establish new ones," according to Oliver P. Kuhrt, CEO of Messe Essen. "In this respect, important stimuli for the energy industry again originated from E world," according to Dr. Niels Ellwanger, Chairman of con'energy ag. "Numerous representatives from the political and economic fields have used the fair as a platform in order to jointly push ahead with solutions for the energy turnaround and to discuss concepts relating to the future of the European energy industry."
Once More the Focus of Attention:
Products and Services Relating to All Aspects
of Smart Energy
Trade visitors, politicians and companies agreed that innovations and joint efforts are needed in order to implement the energy turnaround. At E world, a large number of exhibitors presented their ranges available for the production and storage of renewable energies as well as technologies for the more efficient generation and utilisation of energy. One particularly important area in this respect: Smart Energy. That was also shown by the increased numbers of exhibitors: 120 companies (a plus of 50 percent) introduced their solutions for everything to do with intelligently controllable grids (smart grids), meters (smart metering), networked house technology and energy storage. This area was supplemented by the two well-visited expert forums entitled "Smart Tech" and "Energy Transition". Protagonists from the political, economic, scientific and research sectors dedicated themselves, amongst other subjects, to Energy Storage, Smart City, Energy 2.0 and Big Data.
Great International Acclaim
The great international interest once more consolidated the outstanding position of E world. One in five visitors came from abroad, above all from Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic and China.
The Day of the Consulates also met with strong acclaim: On the first day of the fair, delegations from 31 nations (from Albania via Cuba to the USA) obtained information about challenges in the energy industry. Contacts to exhibiting companies were possible during two guided tours of the fair on the subjects of Renewable Energies and Smart Energy. Selected firms presented their portfolios and answered questions. The interest in this offer was greater than ever: 60 diplomats, consuls general, consuls, economic attachés as well as employees of chambers of foreign trade and energy initiatives took the opportunity to hold discussions and exchange experience.
Congress Focused on the
Future of the European Energy Industry
New market insights and networking opportunities were at the very top of the agenda for numerous visitors to E world Congress. 2.600 participants used the congress running parallel to the fair in order to exchange ideas about the future of the European energy market and new topics. International experts from the industry, science or political representations shared their knowledge in around 30 conferences. The main subjects were again energy trading, generation and marketing as well as energy related services.
The "Energy Industry Leadership Meeting" in cooperation with Süddeutsche Zeitung on the day before E world 2015 was dedicated to the strategic points to be set for Europe's energy future.
The speakers included Jochen Homann, President of Bundesnetzagentur ("Federal Network Agency"), Rainer Baake, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, and Lazlo Varro, Head of the Gas, Coal and Power Division of the International Energy Agency.
On the first day of the fair, EnergieAgentur.NRW ("North Rhine-Westphalia Energy Agency") staged the 19th specialist congress entitled "Future Energies" in cooperation with the clusters called EnergieRegion.NRW ("North Rhine-Westphalia Energy Region") and EnergieForschung.NRW ("North Rhine-Westphalia Energy Research"). Johannes Remmel, Environment and Climate Protection Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, opened the event with a speech about the climate protection and energy policies of the federal state.
Many Young Companies
and Start-ups present
E world as an opportunity: The trade fair helped young companies and university graduates to gain a foothold in the energy market. On a joint booth promoted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, 20 young firms presented their products and services to the trade public. Their products included an app for reading meters using a smartphone camera, energy management system software or new communication access solutions for charging stations.
During the 12th Career Forum on the last day of the fair, 350 students and university graduates took the opportunity to obtain information about ways of starting out on a career and advancement chances in the energy industry. In face-to-face discussions, companies introduced the individual career paths and development chances.
Great Satisfaction
Amongst Exhibitors and Visitors
The comprehensive product range available at E-world met the expectations of the trade visitors. They praised, amongst other aspects, the high internationality and the presence of the market leaders at the fair. Even now, 94 percent of the visitors stated that they wanted to visit E world in 2016, too. The exhibitors showed that they were very satisfied with the high quality of the visitors and the results of their participation in the fair.
