Premier of the MEDICA MEDICINE + SPORTS CONFERENCE:
medicine with top-class participants
Within the scope of the world's largest medicine trade fair, MEDICA, held in Düsseldorf, the international professional scene in the field of sports medicine is going to have its own communication platform with top-class participants as of this year. Along with MEDICA 2013 - World Forum for Medicine (20 - 23 November) - the MEDICA MEDICINE + SPORTS CONFERENCE will be held for the first time at the Congress Center Düsseldorf (CCD Süd/South) on 21 November.
The conference, which is held in the English language, is dedicated to the thematic intersection existing between sport and medicine built on the basis of three foundations, namely prevention, therapy (excluding surgery) and recovery. The organisation of the conference is being handled by NAVISPACE AG that has an advisory team of renowned experts at its side (among others, Dr. Tim Meyer, team physician of the German National Football Team and Dr. Luis Serratosa, the team physician of Real Madrid).
The MEDICA MEDICINE + SPORTS CONFERENCE should shed light on research findings, trends and technology from various perspectives. In addition to the preventive effect of sport on various illnesses, strategic improvement of training results whilst simultaneously preventing injuries will be the main focus of the conference. Further topics will comprise measures to increase strength, as well as prevent surgical interventions including the latest methods from the field of Tradition Chinese Medicine (TCM).
"For all those that are health conscious, sport plays a crucial role in staying fit into a ripe old age. However, whether caused by accidents or strain, the treatment of sport injuries requires an individual approach as well as expert knowledge," said Joachim Schäfer, managing director of the Messe Düsseldorf, highlighting the importance of sports medicine. He is pleased that such renowned experts would choose to be their partners at the MEDICA MEDICINE + SPORTS CONFERENCE.
Partners include the Continua Health Alliance bringing healthcare and technology companies together, the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI), the ISPO International Trade Fair for Sports Equipment and Fashion (Munich) and Wearable Technologies AG.
In 2012, MEDICA, being the world's largest medical trade fair, counted 4,554 exhibitors from more than 60 countries and 130,600 trade visitors (more than half not from Germany).
