Concentrates on International Market Developments
As the leading fair in the European energy and water industries, E-world energy & water will, in 2017, too, offer not only the happenings at the fair but also a comprehensive conference programme whose contents have been developed by con'energy. At Messe Essen from February 6 to 9, 2017, 25 events will offer the trade visitors a frequently used platform for the exchange of knowledge and for discussion. Attention will focus on international market developments: High-ranking experts from the industrial, political and scientific fields will provide information about sales, trading and energy law.
On the day before E-world (February 6), the conference programme will start with the Energy Industry Leadership Meeting. The main subjects of the event in cooperation with Süddeutsche Zeitung will be "The Energy Transition in Germany" and "Trends and Developments in the Framework for New Business Models". The speakers will include Rainer Baake, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, as well as Jochen Homann, President of the Federal Network Agency.
On the first day of the fair, the North Rhine-Westphalia Energy Agency will stage the 21st Specialist Congress for Future Energies - in 2017, together with the North Rhine-Westphalia Climate Expo. The contents will be the climate protection and energy policies of the federal state as well as lectures about trends, markets and new developments in the energy industry.
The International Gas Market Conference on February 7 will be dedicated to the future of gas as a fuel and its market situation. The speakers passing on their expertise will include Hans-Josef Fell, President of the Energy Watch Group, Marie Donnelly, Director for Renewables, Research & Innovation and Energy Efficiency at the European Commission DG Energy, Arno Büx, Chief Commercial Officer of FLUXYS S.A., and Keith Martin, Chief Commercial Officer of Uniper SE.
An independent conference on February 8 will concentrate on the sensitive and highly topical subject of "Cyber Security and Data Protection". An expert from IBM will speak about cyber security for critical infrastructures and Stephan Boy, Executive Director of Kompetenzzentrum Kritische Infrastrukturen GmbH, about organisational solutions for digital challenges.
The conference entitled "Digitisation - Innovative, New World?" on the second day of the fair will be dedicated to the chances and challenges of innovations. Within this framework, Michael Peters, Head of Digital at innogy Deutschland and COO at eprimo, will provide information about safeguarding the future by means of digitisation. Prof. h.c. Dr. Frank Höpner, Member of the Management Board / Business Development Division at ENGIE Deutschland AG, will speak on the subject of "Win-Win: Digitisation Accelerates the Development of New Services" and innovation hacking will be the main focal point of Dr. Jan Fleck, Senior Innovation Strategist at Future Candy GmbH.
What significance the weather has for the energy sector will be explained by the event called Weather Day on February 8. The first part of the conference will deal with the traditional energies. The subjects will include the hedging of volume risks, weather and energy markets from the viewpoint of a large supplier and the European weather market. The second part of the conference will be held in English and will be dedicated to the renewable energies - Here, attention will focus, amongst other subjects, on the German Renewable Energies Act, innovations on the weather market and initial experience with EEX wind futures.
The subjects at the conference about the European Power Market on the second day of the fair will include the role of the Energy Union, the market integration of renewable energies, investment signals and the European grid of the future. The expected speakers will be Bernd Bievert, Deputy Head of Cabinet of the Vice-President of the EU Commission, Stephen Woodhouse, Director of Pöyry, Pierre Bernard, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Friends of the Supergrid, as well as Gunnar Groebler, Senior Vice President and Head of Business Area Wind at Vattenfall GmbH.
The conference called "Smart Infrastructure for Smart Cities" on February 8 will give its premiere. Christoffer Greisen, Project Manager, will introduce the EnergyLab Nordhavn in Copenhagen. Dr. Bernd Koch, Manager of Decentralised Energy Systems at Siemens AG, will speak about intelligent solutions for the city of tomorrow. "Efficiency Needs Transparency" will be the title of the lecture delivered by Peter Eilers, Chairman of the Management Board of Bilfinger Efficiency GmbH.
