Innovations and New Theme Worlds
It has been four long years since the leading industry forum for grinding technology was hosted in Augsburg. Now, GrindTec 2022 will once again bring supply and demand together on March 15 to 18.
GrindTec 2022 is a dawning of a new era. And it is a courageous sign of a new beginning. Trade fairs have shown one thing in these times, with all the special challenges and characteristics: They are essential for the specific markets. No amount of professional digital communication can replace human interaction.
With around 300 companies from 22 countries (as of November 26, 2021), Grindtec 2022 presents a red-hot overview of the industry with numerous innovations. Half (51%) of the currently registered exhibitors have their company headquarters in Germany. The spangest foreign participation currently comes from Italy with 12%, followed by China (11%) and Switzerland (8%). Compared to the previous events, there has been a significant increase in new, thematically perfectly complementary offers, such as the GrindTec FACTORY or GrindTec START UP theme worlds. In this way, GrindTec will continue to be an equally important and necessary platform for the metalworking industry in 2022.

Technical and Technological Highlights
GrindTec 2022 will present a multitude of technical and technological highlights in the sector of grinding and tool grinding technology - despite the EMO, which took place in Milan just this fall. GrindTec will again focus particularly on those
details which are usually lost at large all-round trade fairs for manufacturing technology.
But this is exactly what visitors appreciate about GrindTec. New grinding machines, measuring devices, automation solutions, innovations for the preparation of cooling lubricants and high-precision clamping devices and techniques will be presented. The further developments and new presentations from the software sector will be very exciting. This applies not only to user software for operating and programming machines, measuring devices and systems, but also to the development and design of cutting tools. Visitors can also look forward to coating technology, technologies for cutting edge preparation or laser processing or tool soldering systems - everything that makes the grinder's heart beat faster.
Of course, things will also be smart at the GrindTec. Thus, many 4.0 applications will also be presented, where the user can observe processes or monitor machines remotely via smartphone or tablet. At the special show GrindTec Factory, visitors can even get an idea of the interaction of the entire process chain of a tool grinding company, including the necessary technical interfaces.
The New Theme Worlds of GrindTec
The GrindTec FACTORY will celebrate its premiere at GrindTec 2022. This large special exhibition is being conceived and implemented jointly by the FDPW and GrindTec organizer AFAG. A whole range of manufacturers - all from the field of cutting tool manufacturing - will present their technologies in a manually and digitally networked combination, thus mapping the process chain in the field of tool grinding. At the same time, this presentation also shows how mechanical or digital interfaces to other technologies work and introduces a whole range of new products and solutions. The central aim of this elaborate show is to make processes visible, tangible and perceptible. With an area of a good 500 m², the GrindTec FACTORY is sure to be one of the highlights in Hall 7.
Another new feature is the GrindTec INNOVATION theme world, the industry's new digital platform. Since the middle of the year, experts from all over the world have had the opportunity to inform themselves and exchange ideas outside of the trade fair years. Whether via the social media channels on Linkedin and Facebook or the Innovation Blog: with the new digital offering, grinding technology professionals will not miss out on any innovations and trends. The highlight every two years is the presentation of an innovation award at the world's leading trade fair for grinding technology in Augsburg. Current participants include: GDS, ISBE, Zoller, S-Techplus.
GrindTec START-UP
With the GrindTec START-UP platform, which is also new, the world's leading trade fair for grinding technology offers young, innovative companies an excellent opportunity of presenting themselves to the world market. In a joint action, organizer AFAG and technical sponsor FDPW are thus also promoting the entire industry and thus contributing - especially in these challenging times - to a faster return to familiar conditions. In concrete terms, this means for these companies: Start-ups receive the 4 x 4m - complete stand for 999,- Euro (regular 5.152,- Euro).
For many years now, coherent theme worlds have complemented and rounded off the growing range of Grindtec. The GrindTec FORUM with its competent lectures on the hot topics of the industry has been there from the very beginning. The competition "Tool Grinder of the Year" was added a little later. Leading companies in the industry have always made a significant contribution as sponsors so that this demanding competition could be held by the trade magazine FERTIGUNG from mi.connect. This GrindTec CHALLENGE will also take place again in 2022, this time supported by Schneeberger Maschinenfabrik. In addition to the competition, there will also be a GrindTec Innovation Award initiated by the FDPW for the first time in 2022.
The GrindTec CAMPUS has also been an integral part of GrindTec for several years. Universities, institutes and other scientific facilities have been presenting the latest in research and development for many years. They take a close look at the world of grinding technology of tomorrow. Among others, the Institute for Machine Tools and Factory Operation (IWF) TU in Berlin, the Institute for Machining Technology - ISF - of the Technical University in Dortmund, the Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Machine Tools of the Leibniz University Hannover and the Machine Tool Laboratory WZL of the RWTH Aachen will be present.
