MEDICA Congress has a new outlook -
A clear profile, international reach and topics
that are closely linked to the trade fair
"The Messe Düsseldorf Group now has experience lasting a good 60 years in the direction of medical trade events in Germany and abroad. The health and medical sector is one of the most important and most successful business areas of our company group," explains Joachim Schäfer, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf. With regard to the thematic focus of the MEDICA Congress, Joachim Schäfer defines a clear goal: "The demand is for a clear profile that is closely linked to the trade fair. It is not having a large number of subjects that makes this, but having subjects that are of particular relevance to the medical users. It is also essential to put a greater focus on the international part of the programme.
The repositioning of the content of the MEDICA Congress is a further milestone of the "MEDICA 2015 strategy", which was drawn up with the event advisory body on the 40th anniversary of MEDICA (2009). The trade fair offering has subsequently been focused in terms of content and new themed areas have been established with innovative event formats (e.g. MEDICA TECH FORUM, MEDICA WOUND CARE FORUM and in 2012 the MEDICA ECON FORUM). Examples include recently introduced project presentations that are integrated in the trade fair by cooperation partners such as the decision-maker's workshop "Entscheiderfabrik" (best practices in health IT), Navispace AG (wearable technologies) or CTIA (wireless solutions).
An important part of the MEDICA Congress remains unchanged - further medical training, which is associated with continuing medical education credits (CME).
In 2012 MEDICA, as the world's largest medical trade fair, counted 4,554 exhibitors from more than 60 countries and 130,600 trade visitors. Half of the visitors travelled from outside Germany.
